Memorial Weekend 2010

We made it up to Manistee this weekend for and it was our first road trip with 2 kids. It’s been a bit crazy for the last couple of weeks. We’ve had a range of things going on including the flu, potty training, no daycare, and some pains in living in the lakehouse. We’re really missing having a real home, and are really hoping that the right house will come through for us soon. Getting away seemed like it might be a lot of work (packing and driving), but in the end, we decided that it was just time to hit the road! Dave has been working so hard at work, and we both had that experience of instantly relaxing as soon as we were finding ourselves closer to Manistee. It really is a magical place for us, and such a great time for everyone. We were really excited to get there and be all together with Josh, Mary, Jon, Janet and Dee.

The car ride up had some tears from Nathan, but Dave was great at taking it in stride and kept me pretty calm. When we did arrive, we found the lake air was just what we needed. Luke loved sleeping in the same room with Dave and I, and Nathan pulled through as a trooper and slept 6-7 hours on a couple of nights! Luke made some great strides in potty training, and he really loved all the love and attention that he had from the extended family. Dave and I also were able to take Luke on some special trips to the beach or swimming which really meant a lot to him. Some of the great parts of the trip were that Luke caught a fish, and started to swim with a life jacket on by himself. All in all, we had lots of fun and it is always so great to be together with our family.

I always love the way the photos look from our trips to the beach. The colors are always just so perfect. Enjoy!
